The CHS AlpAdria & Eastern Europe Chapter is delighted to welcome our members to Tuscany in the Province of Pistoia this November. Here you’ll find up-to-date information about the conference, the program, and information for registration.

This year we are excited to highlight the central Italian part of our chapter. With the rolling Tuscan hills and a world-famous grotto and thermal baths as our setting, the meeting offers the opportunity to reconnect with our members and receive updates with our chapter. This year we’re also organizing our own version of Cornell Camp, a best-practice and experience sharing activity to discuss your relevant business challenges and gain your peers’ perspectives.

What is Cornell Camp?

Cornell Camp is a best-practice sharing activity among peers that provides the opportunity for participants to share multiple perspectives on a specified business challenge. The discussion moderator poses questions to the group and solicits the sharing of personal experiences and solutions. At the end of the activity, the moderator summarizes the key points of the discussion and identifies the main takeaways.

How does it work?

During registration, you’ll be asked to submit up to 3 topics/challenges that you face at your property or organization. From this pool of topics, the organizing committee will create a list that will be voted on the first evening of the conference. At the beginning of the Cornell Camp you’ll split into smaller groups based on the topic you’re interested in and share your experiences with the group. The moderators will share the findings of each groups conversations with the rest of the  participants of the conference, so everyone can benefit from each discussion.

Activities

For the Full Tuscan Experience

High above the rolling hills of Montalcino, Castello Banfi towers over acres of vineyards and beautiful scenery. The Mariani Family of proud Cornell Hotelies has extended a special invitation to our members for private visit of the winery and castello, including a tasting and lunch at the original Taverna Banfi! The visit, tasting and lunch are generously offered to our guests complimentary.

Itinerary

The final itinerary will be confirmed after October 29 once we receive enough interest, but the visit will include a guided visit to the winery and vineyards, a private tasting, and a 3-course lunch with wine pairings at Taverna Banfi – which was used as inspiration for the restaurant at the Statler Hotel.

Transportation

Montalcino is a little over 2-hour drive one-way from Grotta Giusti. You’re invited to drive your own car, or for any members that would need roundtrip transportation, we can organize a private transfer. For up to 8 passengers the cost to and from Castello Banfi is €500.

Besides a special visit to Banfi, Grotta Giusti offers it’s own list of unique experiences of the resort, spa and Tuscan countryside. Take a vintage car for a spin on the winding, hilly roads with picturesque views along the way, or spend the morning with a bird’s eye view from a hot air balloon!

Florence Airport Transfers

The Florence airport is less than an hour drive from Grotta Giusti. For members flying into Florence, airport transfers may be organized directly with the sales office. Door-to-door service in a luxury vehicle for up to 3 passengers is € 106 (paid directly to the driver).
